Positioning

I spent a lot of time at the Gallery trying to work out the best way to present the work. This was definitely one of the arrangements i liked the most. having the pipe actually in the oil was one of my original ideas. This is a more direct statement suggesting more obviously where the oil and energy comes from. I don't think however it is necessary to be this obvious and prefer the two parts separate aesthetically. The juxtaposition between the intricate details of the energy pattern reflected in oil against its simple solid industrial container are complimented and balanced by the organic curves of the pipe. Two of the most important lessons i have learnt in my art is the value of simplicity and the ability to not be so literal. Allowing the viewer to work some things out for themselves makes the work engaging.
